Blueprint is a consulting service providing advice and support in economic, public sector and private sector development in Africa including socio economic and spatial/environmental planning services linked with economic development projects and programmes. Familiar with the problems and opportunities that arise in various African settings (e.g., rural communities, towns and cities), Blueprint works in the design, development, management and evaluation of policies, programmes and strategies that promote economic, environmental and social development at local, national and international levels. 

Blueprint also works extensively in the SADC in the area of investment promotion, investor matchmaking, and programme and project development, as well as the development and implementation of appropriate communications and engagement strategies where relevant and as part of specific programme and project briefs.

Blueprint works in close partnership with clients from the public, private and community sectors, pursuing creative and innovative approaches to development, emphasising the value of learning from the experiences of others. We are an African consulting service experienced in working in a variety of settings, including urban, rural and peri-urban settings, informal and formal settlements, as well as landlocked, coastal and island economies.

Chairman

Mavuso is the Chairperson of the Group. He is the ex Director General Department of Home Affairs in South Africa He was previously the Chief Executive Officer of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA,) South African National Parks (SANParks), Tourism KwaZulu Natal ? (TKZN) and South African Tourism Board. He has been involved in various programmes , amongst others the rural development programme in agro-forestry, rural water supplies, primary health care and youth skills training both locally and internationally . He is Blueprint's chairperson. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Entomology and Biology from the University of Zambia and Masters in Business Administration from the US International University.

Josie Rowe Setz

Josie Rowe-Setz has been working with private, public and donor sector clients for over 25 years. Josie founded Blueprint in 1992 and has been working with the firm since its growth from a small single person entity to the thriving partnership it is today. She is Irish by birth and upbringing, but has lived and worked in South Africa since she was 28 and has now settled here. Josie is a specialist in research, especially in industrial and sectoral work, and is one of South Africa's top developers of industrial policy and strategy. She has designed and led over 500 important projects to successful completion and is the author and co author of over 500 papers and reports. She is a guest lecturer on competitiveness for the Wits post graduate programme , an accredited EU research assessor, and the CEO of Blueprint. She was selected for training by the UN in Pretoria on Civil Military Cooperation as a result of her extensive work in conflict analysis and resolution, and subsequently invited to Geneva for the UN Staff course. Josie completed her first BA in Ireland at University College Dublin. Subsequently, Josie completed the MAP programme at Wits business school, and another BA at RAU, followed by Honours in Psychology. She is currently completing a Masters in Psychology by dissertation. She has completed many diploma courses around conflict and group issues, as well as many diploma courses in various aspects of business development. Her work in strategic analysis and strategy development began when she trained with Professor Maurice Saias, head of Strategy at the University of Aix en Provence in France. Josie worked with Professor Saias and his team for three years and has completed many similar projects for clients since then.

Ben Nkambule

Regional Director for Mpumalanga and Limpopo

Ben Nkambule is Blueprint's Regional Director for Mpumalanga and Limpopo. Ben has been involved in a number of important spatial and economic development projects where he works on the spatial developmental economics of a region or route. Recently, he was part of a team that was appointed by Mpumalanga Provincial government to assess the potential economic impact of the Moloto Rail Corridor on the surrounding communities, and he has been heavily involved in planning for sustainable human settlements for a number of municipalities within the province of Mpumalanga. Currently, Ben is part of the Project Management team developing investment and bankable projects within the Maputo Development Corridor- a three year project. Ben holds his Masters Degree in Public Sector Management and in Geography and has extensive expertise in rural and urban economic development. He has played a major role from 1994 to date in organising the government of the province of Mpumalanga. He has worked as a key Director in the Strategic Planning Directorate in the Office of the Premier and for the British Department for International Development (DFID ) heading the policy unit and assisting the premier with the development of strategic projects. He is an expert in the public sector environment with over 25 years experience.

Kevin Ponter

Financial Director

Kevin has been with Blueprint for eight years and is Blueprints Financial Director. He is an experienced economist, and an expert in international and African trade. He is also an experienced project manager and has successfully managed a number of large and high profile projects to completion. These include the IDC’s National Tooling Assessment, the dti’s Motor Industry Development Programme (MIDP) Review and the City of Johannesburg’s Skills Hub Development Project. He has worked extensively in industrial and sector development strategy and policy. He speaks fluent English, Portuguese and Zulu. Kevin is responsible for the financial management and administration of all Blueprint projects as well as the company’s overall financial and administrative management as an executive function. Kevin started his carrier as a Trade and Economic Diplomat and served in South America and Egypt ending his diplomatic carrier in 1997 as Head of the Trade and Economic Office at the South African Embassy in Cairo. He attended Rhodes University where he completed an Honours Degree in Economics in 1984.

Mpumi Ramphomane

Mpumi Ramphomane is a Blueprint Director and is an expert in the field of Human Resource Development and Management. Over the last 15 years, Mpumi has undertaken extensive work in skills assessment and strategy development at the national and regional levels, design and development of skills enhancement facilities for various provinces and major metros, performance management, employment equity, career and succession planning , remuneration and compensation and talent management . Mpumi has additionally led various teams in skills audits and broader Sector Skills Plan development for different SETA?s. She is intimately familiar with South African labour and skills related legislation and regulation. Finally Mpumi has Organisational Development and Design experience and has led project teams focussing on Change Management and Organisational Culture. Mpumi has a BA (Hons) in Social Work, a Diploma in Human Resources Management & Development from Harvard in the US and a Diploma in General Management. She is currently engaged in completing her Masters in Industrial Social Work.

Nolita Mkize

Regional Director - KwaZulu Natal

Nolita Mkize is based in KwaZulu Natal and is an experienced project manager. She has been responsible for the management of high profile and complex projects such as the management of a 24 month Poverty Alleviation project funded by DEAT amongst others. Nolita has extensive experience in rural development issues and offers significant expertise in tourism development including business planning and infrastructure planning. From a sector point of view, Nolita's expertise in Tourism as well as SMME Development, is very significant. Nolita is Blueprint's Regional Director for KwaZulu Natal, and is responsible for all KZN projects undertaken by Blueprint in the public and private sectors. Nolita is also skilled and experienced in all areas of programme administration including management of staff, performance management, financial and administrative procedures. She is experienced in managing quite a number of projects in South Africa in the following areas: Project identification and appraisal, strategic planning, project management, monitoring & evaluation, policy development, stakeholder analysis, negotiation and conflict management, communication and administration Nolita completed a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Diploma in Marketing, a Certificate in Project Management & Waste Technology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management.
