Blueprint has just completed a total review and research update of South Africa’s Women’s Economic Empowerment strategy recently approved by cabinet, developed and finalised by Dr Simon White and Josie Rowe-Setz. The Rhino Issue Management programme, a 12 month process of consultation and research undertaken by the Department of Environmental Affairs, has recently culminated in the acceptance of the RIM report by Cabinet, and the commencement of its implementation, a programme led by Mavuso Msimang. Blueprint is currently running its second Poverty Alleviation programme, in the Tsitsikamma and Jefferys Bay areas of the Eastern Cape, with considerable success. Strategic work is underway in the area of Human Settlements development as well as in the development of SEZs and the commercial unlocking of specific target areas of Coastal South Africa. The packaging and metals industries and specific mining subsectors are the focus of current work, as are the cement, steel and capital equipment industries. Precious metal and stones jewellery is a particular area of expertise as is the development of skills hubs in this field. Finally work is also currently being undertaken in export and SADC related research, as well as market share research for various multi nationals.
Blueprint has completed its Light Engineering Investment Partnership Programme for the EU SADC Programme (ESIPP) with a resounding success. Over 100 SPM participants brought projects to the meeting for discussion with investors, and all 14 SADC countries were represented.
